The French Alps

We stayed only two days in Chamonix on our way from Zermatt to Geneva. The town is charming. There are plenty of shops to check out, some great restaurants, and lots of sunburned mountain climbers walking around. Cam found an extra large dahlia in the park:
Anjan recommended this restaurant, and it was excellent:
The mountains are dramatic. Sharp spires and sheer rock faces jut upwards. Here is what the alps look like at sunrise:
Another view of the Alps at sunrise:
We went for a nice hike up the valley to Argentiere. It was incredibly lush and green:
The colors were popping:
Even the wildlife was green:
We came across this old French dude who was foraging for mushrooms. Note the bag in his left hand- filled with mushrooms:
The little town of Argentiere was quaint and made for a nice lunch destination:
After the hike, we were in the mood for some champagne:
We enjoyed Chamonix, and will need a another trip back to fully explore it all.
