First family hike in Switzerland

We woke up in Wengen nervous about the weather. All of our iPhone weather reports were saying it was going to be 28
degrees F and SNOWING all day. Not the best for a hike.

But after simply walking outside after breakfast, the sun was shining and the snow had been beaten back to the Matterhorn.

Just outside of town, we gained a traveling companion:
She was probably on a murderous rampage against field mice only minutes before she came up to our hiking party. She needed some attention:
The mountains above Wengen DID indeed get snow last night:
We got some great views of Wengen as we looked back after 30 minutes of hiking:
Pete and Judy were very happy to be getting exercise after a long day in the car yesterday:
Odd, rapidly changing mountain lighting can make for some fun photos:
Just to the right of Cam's shoulder is the tiny town of Gimmelwald, perched right on top of a cliff:

Mom and Dad's turn with Gimmelwald in the background. The sun was shining at this point:
We saw some fairy tale mushrooms on the trail. Yum:
The trail took us through some alpine pastures just below the glaciers:
The dairy rooms themselves were beautiful:
The trail was a nice little single track:
We had lunch at a nice little restaurant halfway up the mountain:
Then we continued the climb as we hiked to Kleine Scheidigg. This is where you jump on the trains that go up to the Junfraujoch. Pete, normally a vegan, couldn't resist getting a bratwurst. Yes, it was very good:
From there, we started descending towards Grindelwald:
We crossed a bunch of crystal clear streams:
And found some wildlife:
We made it to Grindelwald and did some shopping before dinner. After dinner we took the train back to Wengen for a good night's sleep. Here is the view of suburban Grindelwald, from its main road:
