Perfect conditions for the pro contest

Late September is the best time for surf conditions in France. We are not the only ones who know. The ASP (the professional surfing tour) is fully aware of this. So they hold a men's and women's contest every year at this time. The area they hold it covers about 15 miles of coastline. They ask the locals which sandbar is the highest quality, and they park the judging booth right in front. Sometimes they hold it closer to Hossegor, sometimes they hold it in Capbreton, but this year they are holding it right in front of Jesse's place in Seignosse. This is what the spot looked like yesterday during the women's contest:
The area is thick with professionals during this time. Really cool atmosphere:
Our beach camp was just south of the contest site. This allowed us to watch the  heats, while also watching the peak just south of the closed off area. We surfed that peak for about 6 hours yesterday, in three 2 hour chunks:
This pro surfer girl set up camp right next to us after her heat. She is American but we don't know her name:
In the afternoon, the pro men started showing up. Here is John John Florence, getting ready right next to us. After surfing all day, we were exhausted and got to watch the best surfers on the planet put on a show in perfect conditions. We have photos on Jesse's big DSLR camera that we will post when we get back to LA:
