Matterhorn on a clear morning

We lucked out, and the rain stopped for a nice morning hike up towards the base of the Matterhorn.

The view of the Matterhorn from the hotel:
Starting up the trail:
We hiked past a few really old and beautiful mountain huts. They have slate rooftops:
The clouds started to move in quickly so we got a shot with the last little bit of blue sky for the day:
A very nice 3 hour hike, overall.

We've eaten two meals in the last 24 hours at a restaurant called the "Snow Boat." If you come to Zermatt, you MUST go! The salads are incredible, as are all of the appetizers. Tomorrow I am getting a burger, which is their specialty. Think Father's Office, in the Alps.
