In the castle's wine cellar

In order to prepare for dinner, Eric asked us to head into his wine cellar and pick out something special. Cambria broke out into a full sprint towards the castle.

"La Cave" (the cellar) was, as you can imagine, quite impressive. As wine enthusiasts, it was sort of the "kid in the candy store" situation, with the added bonus of it being below a frickin castle.

You could feel the temperature drop as you walked down the stairway:

There is plenty of space:
There are two main rooms (each the size of Jon and Cam's apartment), separated by a midget door. People were shorter in the 1400's, apparently:
The racks aren't like what we have at home. In fact, nothing was like what we have at home. The really good stuff gets to rest on its back on a special bed:
I hear that '47 and '49 were very good years.
I have a good feeling about how this will taste:
These look OK too:
He had some very large format bottles:
If you want to taste, the glasses are ready on the chandelier:
We ended up selecting a Loire Valley wine from Jon's birth year, 1978. It didn't have a label, which made it even better. Caroline thinks Bordeaux is overrated, and didn't feel like a Burgundy, so we went with the '78 mystery bottle.

Yes, it was good.
