We started by walking around "our" neighborhood of Ile St Louis. Apparently it is known for its romantic feel and the best ice cream in Paris. We will report back on the ice cream later, but the romantic reputation is well deserved.
After Ile St Louis, we hit Boulevard St Germain and then cut into the narrow streets of Rive Gauche. Here is Cam walking down one of the typical streets we were on:
We crossed the river and went into the Tuilerie Gardens. The weather was perfect: dry air, 70 degrees, and a refreshing breeze. While in the Tuileries, we went to L'Orangerie museum, where there are a handful of massive Monet paintings along with some of the other masters of the era. Here's Cam outside (this is for Pete; this is his favorite museum in Paris):
We fought the evil dragon of jet lag, but I wouldn't say we slayed it. Even through the fog of jet lag, Cam was blown away by the beauty of the city. Our next blog entry will be fairly heavy on photos, since we saw so many beautiful little pockets of the city today.
