Portuguese wine: who knew?!?!?

Everyone knows Portugal is capable of producing excellent fortified wines, aka dessert wines, aka wines you only drink at fancy restaurants with a cheese course. Port = Porto = Portugal. That's all they make, right? That's certainly what your corespondent thought. Wow, was I wrong. Portuguese wine is incredibly tasty and, like everything else in Portugal, quite affordable. I feel like I've stumbled on to something that most wine loving Americans don't know about. There just isn't a lot of exposure to Portuguese wines in the US. I'm not sure why. Is it a supply thing? Or a demand thing? I'm going to do a little digging. There could be a nice little business opportunity in becoming the leading importer of Portuguese table wine. In the meantime, we will continue our hands-on due diligence here in Portugal. We have some work to do:
