Made it to San Sebastián

And it wasn't an easy travel day. We had biblical rains in Seignosse this morning. Rain is normally nothing more than a nuisance, but when you have to walk for 10 minutes with all of your earthly possessions to the bus stop, rain can sort of suck. Especially torrential rain.

Check the river of water in front of the bus stop:
We took the bus to Bayonne, where we waited for an hour huddled under the bus
stop:
Cam was soaked:
Ok, enough about our wet journey.

Fast forward a bit. We lugged our 2 surfboards, 2 roller bags, 2 backpacks, and 1 duffel bag about a mile from the bus station to the little hostel we are staying at. The room is great:
You can see our boards in the corner and Jon's wetsuit hanging from the window. We are staying right in the heart of the Parte Vieja, or the Old Quarter. Narrow pedestrian-only streets lined with bars, shops, and cafes.

We were starving when we arrived so we had a big meal right away at a little restaurant called La Fabrica. It was amazing. It was a full 7 course tasting menu, and it came with a bottle of wine. Here is Cam, on dessert:
After our late lunch/early dinner, we walked all over La Parte Vieja to scope out our neighborhood. What a place. This is an example of one of the views from one of the streets:
We popped into a little square that had several PACKED cafes:
San Sebastián is very Basque. Lots of hot politics in Basque land. My Basque is a little rusty so I don't know how to translate, but these flyers are plastered everywhere:
It had been showering on and off all day so we caught a nice rainbow. Jon decided to drink it straight from the bottle:
Every little storefront has a bar with fresh tapas, or "pinxtos" as they say in Basque:
Tomorrow we will walk around and eat as many pinxtos as our stomachs can handle. Stay tuned!!!
