Not the case.
Consider our current conditions: we have stinky, wet wetsuits and booties under our bed. The van is parked in an empty campsite on the Mahia peninsula and is getting rocked by gale force winds and pelted with rain. We are holed up. Battening down the hatches. Getting quality time with the spouse in close, cold quarters.
We even capitulated and busted out the electric heater that makes noise and smells like burning plastic.
Here is the view from the camper now (the campground has wifi, which is pretty sweet):
