Nimbin: a funky little hippy town

With no surf in the immediate forecast, we decided to take a detour about an hour inland to a town called Nimbin. Catia had been here before and told us to check it out if there wasn't any surf happening.

It is a really cool little town. Sort of stuck in 1972. Lots of old hippies wandering around and lots of little hippy shops:
It is much smaller than Paia, and is much more one dimensional. Paia has hippies, but it also has surfers, kiters, came workers, and other riff raff. Nimbin is pure hippy:
And there are no high end boutiques in Nimbin. Just a lot of hemp:
Some of the murals are really cool:
We ended up staying at a campervan park that was right next to the municipal pool. It was hot and still yesterday, so we were stoked to get a few laps in to cool off and also get the blood flowing!
